This was my company for freelance works in the new era of printing.
Today we have a innovated genius called Elon Musk with a line of outstanding companies.
Back then it was garage guys named Steve Jobs and Jef Raskin who created Apple and McIntosh.
As I was in the agency business I was totally amazed when the first cube arrived to sweden.
"Macintosh was first introduced on January 24, 1984, by Steve Jobs. It was the idea of Apple employee Jef Raskin in the 1970s. He wanted an easy-to-use, affordable personal computer for the average person.
The Macintosh 128k was introduced in January 1984. It came bundled with two applications designed to show off its interface: MacWrite and MacPaint.
In 1985, the combination of the Mac, Apple’s LaserWriter printer, and Mac-specific software like Boston Software’s MacPublisher and Aldus PageMaker enabled users to design, preview, and print page layouts complete with text and graphics; it was an activity to become known as desktop publishing. Initially, desktop publishing was unique to Macintosh but eventually became available for IBM PC users as well.
Later, applications such as Macromedia FreeHand, QuarkXPress, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator strengthened Mac’s position as a graphics computer and helped to expand the emerging desktop publishing market." ( text from apple).
Its now I started my new direction to be an teacher and producer in our advertising area. Many of my clients bought a couple of Macs soon as you could get them. Their problem was that nobody never really used a computer, certainly not in the business.
I did learn the functions and software to help old clients get going. With new software like pagemaker, photoshop, freehand and quarkexpress the branch exploded. Now you could make anything.
If you could use the new softwere.
I was from day one booked by agencies and repro companies to find out millions of problems they had. Art Directors did artworks by themselves instead of trying to explain to the girl who normally made original.
New models of macs was released, new software, new printers, new raster image processors. New 4 colour copiators. An ongoing circus in the printing business.
Huge repro companies had to convert to digital for a lot of money. Some closed. Print shops could print digital instead of ink.
The agencies had to rethink their hierarki as the old way with a bunch of involved people started to be expensive.
New digital production agencies could deliver faster, better to a lower price.
The first was Krokodilen, se sep blog.
